North Shields 800 is a year-long programme celebrating 800 years of the town’s rich history, while also reflecting on its present identity and future ambitions. The programme brings together community groups, cultural organisations, and local residents through events, exhibitions, and activities designed to connect people with the area’s heritage in meaningful and accessible ways.
Wavehill has been commissioned to carry out the evaluation of the programme, assessing how effectively the celebrations have engaged local communities and achieved their intended outcomes. This work involves research with participants, partners, and stakeholders to understand the impact of the events and ensure that learning from the programme can inform future heritage and community initiatives.
Evaluation plays a vital role in projects like North Shields 800. By gathering robust evidence and insight, Wavehill helps demonstrate the value of cultural investment, supports accountability for funders, and ensures that community voices are captured and reflected. It is thoughtful, detailed work that underpins long-term decision-making and sustainable impact.
