Lhyfe: Pioneering Green Hydrogen

Lhyfe: Pioneering Green Hydrogen from The Corner

At The Corner, we’re proud to provide a home for businesses that are making a real difference, and few are doing that quite like Lhyfe.

Lhyfe, a tenant at The Corner since 2022, is a European leader in green hydrogen production. Recently, the company reached an exciting milestone: two of its UK green hydrogen projects have been shortlisted for government support as part of the UK’s Hydrogen Allocation Round 2 (HAR2).

Powering the Future from Wallsend to Kent

The two shortlisted sites include a 20 MW facility in Wallsend, North Tyneside, and an 80 MW facility in Kemsley, Kent. If successful, these projects will supply green hydrogen to industrial users and transport operators across the UK, helping reduce reliance on fossil fuels and driving forward the UK’s clean energy ambitions.

Lhyfe’s proposed Wallsend site, located at the historic Neptune Bank Power Station, is set to produce up to 8 tonnes of green hydrogen per day. Their Kemsley site could deliver up to 32 tonnes per day, supplying hydrogen directly to a major industrial player in the region.

A Key Player in a Growing Market

Lhyfe’s inclusion in HAR2 confirms their position as a major player in Europe’s green hydrogen sector. With six production sites already operational or under construction, and a strong track record across France and Germany, their presence in the UK is a powerful step toward a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Through their UK subsidiary based here at The Corner, Lhyfe is helping British businesses decarbonise, strengthen energy security, and explore the potential of offshore hydrogen production using the UK’s vast wind resources.

Why It Matters

As the UK moves toward net-zero goals, hydrogen will play a critical role in decarbonising industry and transport. Lhyfe is at the heart of that transformation, and we’re delighted to see their achievements recognised at a national level.

Congratulations to the Lhyfe UK team! We’re proud to have you at The Corner.
